A huge nebula in Cygnus called the Veil Nebula. Situated in a rich area of the Milky Way some 6 full moons across is the remnant of a huge supernova
explosion when a star 15 to 20 times the mass of the Sun explode some 20,000 yearws ago. In HAlpha light (above) it looks a bit like whisps of smoke.
The detail in some of the filaments is very impressive as shown in the colour close ups the eastern veil (ngc6992 on the left) and the western veil
(ngc6960 on the right sometimes called the Witche’s Broom Nebula)
